Using a double opt-in subscription system can improve your email deliverability and the quality of your contact list for better overall email marketing.
In email marketing, there exists an eternal debate to decide which is better: single and double opt-in. While both sides have their pros and cons, it’s always going to be up to you, the marketer, to decide which is best for your business.
What is double opt-in?
Double opt-in is a system for adding new contacts to your email list that involves collecting an email address through a signup form and sending a confirmation email to that address to validate the contact information before adding it to the list.
How do I set up double opt-in?
- Setting up a double opt-in flow is very simple, you can select the "Double Opt-In" option when creating a campaign:
- Then, in the designer, you can simply add a link to any e-mail in the drag & drop builder, with {{double_opt_in}} as the URL target:
You would write as the button text, something as "Click Here to Confirm Your Subscription".
- The event to trigger this e-mail will be when a contact joins a list of your choice, e.g. after signing up for a form:
- The final important step is to fill in the Double Opt-In URL box, with a unique web link. When the user clicks on the link set above, they will be redirected to this page, and the confirmation is complete.
